COOLEST JOBS I’VE SEEN THIS WEEK

Each week, I plan to profile a very short (< 5) + hyper-curated list of unique jobs that I believe deserve special attention.

• Soundmap Founding Engineer - Soundmap, a sort of Pokémon GO meets music experience, is currently #3 in Apple’s Music category. The team is only the two founders, and the app is scaling at a clip of hundreds of thousands of users per month. Music loving backend engineers who want a piece of “founding engineer equity” in a post-market-fit venture should be mashing the apply button.

• Altera Gameplay Engineer - Altera is making AI agents for gaming. Among the four founders is Robert Yang, who previously led MIT’s AI Agent Lab, and published several highly influential papers on neural networks. In their first three months as a company, Altera shared they’d outperformed benchmarks established by NVIDIA’s research team via Voyager. Altera has since raised $9M from Eric Schmidt and others, and wants to bring in gameplay engineers who are passionate about the AI space.

• k-ID Product Manager - just yesterday, k-ID announced a $45M raise that will be put toward the mission of protecting children in the gaming ecosystem. The company creates a sort of single-sign on for kids + parents that will integrate across many gaming platforms, and already has a raft of big-name clients signed up for their product. They are looking for a product manager who comes from the studio side, and who understand social platforms / identity mechanics.

• VALORANT Community Manager — I may be biased having worked at Riot - but I think VALORANT’s community team is at the vanguard of setting a new definition and standard for community management in modern gaming.
